As I wrote about the other day, it is a real challenge when it comes to eating organic food with my non-organic food friends. They are just not that into it, and I respect that completely. I believe every person should do whatever they want.
Yet, I am noticing some interesting things from some of these same people. Now that they have very young kids, most of them are babies, the diet in the household has switched completely. The kids are fed 100% organic and there doesn’t seem to be any wavering whatsoever.
This decision is not a result of me badgering them about the importance of organic for young children. Although I may make general comments from time to time, I try to not get involved unless I am asked my opinion.
Maybe the fact that I am super-fanatical about organic or that I write an organic food blog has rubbed off on them in some small way. I don’t know for sure, however.
Nevertheless, it makes me very happy to see that these little kids are eating organic. Organic milk, particular, is absolutely essential for kids and that’s what they are getting.
One Notable Observation/Question
Have the parents switched to eating organic now that their kids are eating organic? For the most part, it doesn’t seem so. And this isn’t a financial issue — money is not the problem.
Maybe this will change over time. And maybe this will change once the kids get older and they are all eating the same food at the dinner table.
Regardless, it makes me real happy that organic food has made its way onto the plates in the homes of my friends and I look forward to the day when they have me over for a completely organic dinner. Based on how things are going, it may take several years but I am confident that it will happen.
