With major food and chemical companies spending millions and millions of dollars to defeat GMO-labeling efforts in this country, my friend Vani Hari and I have decided to take action.

Just as we did two years ago for Prop 37 in California and last year for I-522 in Washington, the two of us will be throwing a fundraiser for Oregon and Colorado, two states that will be voting on GMO-labeling in the next few months. Read more »

As many of you probably know, I was recently attended Natural Products Expo East 2013 in Baltimore, Maryland.

When I go there each year, there are two things are pretty much guarantees for me.

One, I stay at the AMAZING Inn at the Black Olive, the most green/organic hotel I’ve ever encountered.

Two, I make a visit to Liquid Earth, a fantastic organic restaurant just a few blocks away from the hotel.  Liquid Earth serves raw and cooked vegan organic food in a wonderful environment.

Prior to arriving in Baltimore for Natural Products Expo East 2013, I was really curious to see who would have the best trade show booth.

Yet, it only took a few seconds to realize who the clear winner was.

BRAD’S RAW FOODS 

Dubbed “the Barn” by the company, this amazing piece of work accomplished two things.

One, it accentuated the brand’s packaging with the wood’s color and texture. Two, it maximized the allotted floor space since the second level was able to hold up to 10 people and served as a private space for meetings.

Possibly, the smartest thing about this booth was that Brad’s Raw Foods created a video (see below) on how it was built. Read more »

At Natural Products Expo East 2013, three companies really impressed me with their innovation.

GROWER PETE’S ORGANIC LIVING BUTTER LETTUCE

Every time I see Pete Overgaag, President of Hollandia Produce (the parent company of Grower Pete’s), at an organic trade show, I always run over to him with great excitement. I repeatedly remind him of the time that I discovered his lettuce growing in an actual pot at my local supermarket. After a few years, my enthusiasm for his product still hasn’t waned. Read more »

Last night, I got back from Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore and had a fantastic time. As I always do during the show in Baltimore, I stay at my absolute favorite hotel, The Inn at the Black Olive, the most green/organic hotel I’ve ever seen.

YELLOW BARN ROASTED EGGPLANT PASTA SAUCE

Next week is the biggest organic trade show of the year – Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, CA – and I came to California early to visit a friend and to check out the newest organic restaurants in San Francicso. (Stay tuned to my blog over the next few days, as I have some great ones that I am going to be sharing with you!)

For food on my flight, one product that I brought with me was Muesli Fusion’s Athlete Fuel.
