As the demand for pressed organic juice remains insatiable, Hain Celestial decided that it could no longer ignore this tremendous market opportunity.

In its Q1 Fiscal Year 2013 press release, Hain Celestial just announced that:

“The company had entered into a letter of intent to acquire BluePrint, a recognized leader in juice cleanses and single-serve raw juices based in New York City.  The acquisition, which is expected to close by the end of calendar year 2012, is expected to be accretive to Hain Celestial’s earnings in fiscal year 2013.  Details of the transaction were not disclosed.”

I have seen no official press release from Hain Celestial about the deal, and I have contacted BluePrint but they have no comment as of now. Read more »

On Monday night in New York City at about 8PM EST or so, I was literally ten minutes away from publishing a post about all of the organic food that I bought before Hurricane Sandy’s arrival.

Yet, the electricity went out and the post never went up.

Scroll down to the bottom to see these foods and read about them if you wish. However, this information seems really trivial and unimportant to me right now. Why?

The devastation that this storm has caused to NYC, New Jersey, Long Island and other parts of the East Coast is the only thing on my mind right now. Lives have been lost, homes have been ruined, communities and towns have been completely upended, and countless small businesses are sure to go bankrupt.

Since I was in downtown Manhattan during and after the storm, here is what I experienced. Read more »

A brand new restaurant opened up in New York City called Hu Kitchen, and I am HUGE fan.

As Founder/CEO Jordan Brown explains in my interview above, Hu Kitchen represents “food for humans”, and the philosophy is about serving unprocessed, non-GMO food in a way that people have been eating for a long, long time.

Aside from the fact that it is just a short walk from where I live and work in NYC, there are several things that I love about Hu Kitchen.

1) The organic food is fresh and great tasting, and the diverse menu appeals to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

2) Hu Kitchen has something very unique and completely innovative called a Mashbar. Read more »

Approximately 75 people packed GustOrganics and filled the room with THE BEST energy. Individuals came in from South Carolina, North Carolina, Michigan, Connecticut, New Jersey, and upstate New York. Why did they travel so far to attend this event?

Because they know how critical it is that GMO-labeling gets approved in California, and they wanted to show their support and be with other people who care so deeply about this issue. Read more »

Join Me in NYC for a GMO-Labeling Fundraiser to Benefit Proposition 37

As many of us know already, citizens in California will be voting in November on whether genetically-modified food (GMOs) should be labeled or not – Proposition 37. Even though this is a vote in California, the implications for the rest of the country are enormous. If California passes mandatory GMO-labeling, it will encourage other states […]
