Pressed Organic Juice Company BluePrint to be Acquired by Hain Celestial

As the demand for pressed organic juice remains insatiable, Hain Celestial decided that it could no longer ignore this tremendous market opportunity.

In its Q1 Fiscal Year 2013 press release, Hain Celestial just announced that:

“The company had entered into a letter of intent to acquire BluePrint, a recognized leader in juice cleanses and single-serve raw juices based in New York City.  The acquisition, which is expected to close by the end of calendar year 2012, is expected to be accretive to Hain Celestial’s earnings in fiscal year 2013.  Details of the transaction were not disclosed.”

I have seen no official press release from Hain Celestial about the deal, and I have contacted BluePrint but they have no comment as of now.

However, one could imagine that Hain Celestial is acquiring the company to capitalize on the exploding trend of pressed organic juice and to expand the brand both here and abroad.

MY TAKE

This is an incredibly smart acquisition.

BluePrint already has the widest distribution of any pressed organic juice company in the U.S. and has manufacturing facilities in New York and California.

Furthermore, the strategic decision not to have any physical stores but to distribute via overnight home delivery, drop-off locations, and retail outlets, such as Whole Foods, has allowed BluePrint to grow its brand faster than any of its competitors.

With the financial and marketing muscle from Hain Celestial, BluePrint now has the potential to become the most recognized pressed organic juice company in countries around the world.

Co-Founders Erica Huss and Zoe Sakoutis have done an amazing job of building BluePrint, and they are extremely committed to organic, which obviously means a ton to me.

Not only are their juices USDA certified organic, but BluePrint was a sponsor of our recent GMO-labeling fundraiser here in New York City.

Overall, this deal is a big win for both pressed organic juice fans everywhere and for the entire organic industry.
