It’s All About Light and Delicious at Gingersnap’s Organic in NYC

(Gingersnap’s Organic closed its operations in March of 2017.)

With so many new organic restaurants popping up all over NYC, it becomes harder and harder to know who is truly organic and who isn’t.

I hear whispers about numerous organic places using conventional ingredients when they can’t get organic or when the cost of organic is too high. And with only one restaurant in NYC that is actually USDA certified organic, it is hard to know who to trust.

When I go to Gingersnap’s Organic, however, I don’t have that worry at all. And neither should you.

Why?

Because I have had extensive conversations with owner Jamie Graber, and it didn’t take long for me to realize that she is as hardcore as I am. Furthermore, what organic restaurant puts this pledge (below) on their menu? None that I know of.

Jamie Graber, who previously worked at Juliano’s Planet Raw in Los Angeles and Live Live here in New York City, opened up Gingersnap’s Organic in Manhattan’s East Village, and the restaurant serves organic, gluten-free, raw food.

Here are some things that I had during recent visits.

ZUCCHINI PASTA WITH MARINARA SAUCE AND BRAZIL NUT PATE

The pasta sauce had great flavor and the zucchini noodles were light and crunchy. I’m a huge fan of Brazil nuts, so I was thrilled to see the pâté on the plate as well.

SPROUT SALAD

This salad had mixed vegetables, sprouts, and a mint tahini dressing. I could eat this every single day. Super-refreshing.

PUMPKIN PIE

I am a huge fan of pumpkin pie and this one did not disappoint at all. It was rich and had fantastic texture.

PRESSED ORGANIC JUICE AND NUT MILKS

Without question, Gingersnap’s Organic has one of best pressed organic green juices in NYC. Maybe the best.

Aside from the fact that it comes in a glass bottle, there is no lemon, ginger, apple, or aloe in the green juice. Just straight green vegetables – just how I like it.

Because of its incredible commitment to organic, light and great tasting food, and rock star awesome pressed green juice, I have added Gingersnap’s Organic to My Favorite Organic Restaurants in NYC list.

I am a fan!
