Ever Seen One of These Before? I Hadn’t Until The Other Day – An Organic Gold Nugget Mandarin

When I was in my local organic market the other day, a handful of unconventionally-looking oranges were sitting in a back shelf.

I had never seen anything that look like these and then asked the guy working there a question.

“Do you these come like this?”

“Yes,” he said.

As it turns out, these are organic gold nugget mandarins (or tangerines).

The few key attributes of the organic gold nugget mandarin are:

– It has a rich, sweet taste.

– It is seedless.

– It is very easy to peel.

– It is bigger in size than a traditional tangerine.

Many people on the West Coast are probably very familiar with the gold nugget mandarin but this was something new to me. If you see it your local market, give it a try and let me know what you think.

With its New GMO-Labeling Rule, the USDA Has Completely Failed the American Consumer

Based on what we have seen from the current administration’s USDA — the scrapping of the organic animal welfare rules, allowing hydroponics in organic even though it is a complete violation of the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990, and turning a blind eye to ‘organic factory farms’ – should anyone be the least bit surprised that the recently released GMO-labeling rules completely fail the American consumer?
