My Dinner on Saturday Night at LifeFood Gourmet in Miami

* UNFORTUNATELY, THIS RESTAURANT HAS SINCE CLOSED *

On Saturday night in Miami, I ate dinner at LifeFood Gourmet, one of my favorite organic restaurants in the country.

Owned and run by John Schott, LifeFood Gourmet serves vegan food and most of its menu is raw. Here is what I had.

MEDITERRANEAN NACHOS

The nachos are made with Brazil nut hummus, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro, parsley, olives, and onions, and come with tortilla chips.

TEXI MEXI PIZZA

Texi Mexi Pizza is made with romaine lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, nutmeat, bell peppers, and tomatoes, and is topped with nut cheese. Just prior to being served, it is put in the dehydrator to give it some warmth.

CARAMEL CAROB SHAKE

The Caramel Carob shake is made with wild milk, mamey, carob, mesquite, and palm nectar.

As usual, the food was fantastic. The nachos were spicy and filling, the pizza was hearty and had perfect flavor, and the shake was creamy and rich.

When people ask me what are some of the best organic restaurants in the country, I always respond “Well, there is this guy in Miami named John Schott who I think is amazing.”

If you’re ever in Miami, definitely stop by LifeFood Gourmet. I love the place.
