Nutty Nori Chips by Food on Purpose
One advantage of spending time in different parts of the country is that I get to discover smaller organic brands that are sold regionally and are not available just yet in New York City.
Having spent the last few days in Denver with my family, I have made multiple trips to the local Whole Foods and one product in particular has made a big impression on me — the Nutty Nori Chips by a company called Food on Purpose.
I have eaten a similar type of nori chip in the past but these are absolutely fantastic.
Why I Like This Product
1) Stellar Taste. The crunch of the nori complements the softness of the nut cheese in the middle.
And it is the nut cheese which makes this snack incredibly filling, something that kale chips fail to accomplish.
2) Amazing Ingredients. I absolutely love the ingredients and am pretty shocked that they use Brazil nuts, tumeric and maca.
Other ingredients include nori, carrots, garlic, lemon juice, Celtic sea salt and purified water. The fact that the Nutty Nori Chips is raw is a big plus as well.
3) Fantastic Name. The slogan of Food on Purpose is “Intentional Choices, Powerful Foods”. I truly believe that food is medicine and that we are eating organic food on purpose. The name of the company reminds us of this.
Really well done, Food on Purpose!!

Interestingly enough, I got an email from someone today asking my opinion about nori from Japan. Her daughter loves veggie nori rolls and wanted to know what I thought.
I responded to her that I would avoid all sea vegetable products from Japan and try to buy sea vegetables off of the coast of Maine.
My guess is that the nori used in the Nutty Nori Chips was purchased well before the tsunami but this is something that I will be looking into.
I will report back to you about this and about sea vegetables in general, as they relate to the tragedy in Japan. Expect a blog post soon on this topic.
