Au Lac – My Dinner Last Night in Los Angeles
As soon as I landed last night in Los Angeles, I went directly to Au Lac.
Au Lac is considered by many people to be the best raw food restaurant in the country. After finally experiencing it myself for the first time, I agree. It was absolutely phenomenal. Simply remarkable.
Some things to know about Au Lac:
– The organic restaurant serves raw food and cooked vegan Vietnamese food. There are separate kitchens for each.
– The masterful and kind chef, Chef Ito, interacts with all of the patrons at the elixir bar but does not speak. Yes, he does not speak (by choice). He hasn’t spoken in 9 years and is the sweetest person you can imagine. People LOVE him.
– The water is purified via reverse osmosis.
– They use the word “Humanese”. It is not a Vietnamese, Chinese or Japanese restaurant but a Human-ese restaurant — a place for all humans. Needless to say, the energy at Au Lac is fantastic and full of love. The wait staff is so incredibly kind and giving.
Now, on to the food…..

WITH MAI, THE WONDERFUL OWNER OF AU LAC
If you are ever in Southern California, try to make a trip to Au Lac. It is a very, very special place and serves the best raw organic food I have ever eaten.
