My Organic Remedy to Help Keep the Flu Away – Fire Cider

(Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional, and this article is not intended to treat or cure any illness or ailment. It is for informational purposes only, and please consult your doctor before taking anything.)

With 48 states fighting the flu and 29 children having died from the virus, it has definitely been on my mind, especially since it is in the news every single day.

That being said, I have not gotten and would never get a flu shot. (My friend Vani Hari wrote about the garbage that they put in these shots, in case you are interested.)

My idea of staying healthy and avoiding being sick is to make sure that my immune system is strong as it can be.

So, I am:

– Getting as much rest as I can.

– Juicing a ton. Mostly green juice, ginger shots, and carrot juice. Separately.

– Taking my supplements, including cod liver oil capsules for the Omega 3-s.

– Meditating, as usual. Stress weakens the immune system.

– Getting as much Vitamin D from the sunlight as possible. This isn’t easy in NYC in the winter.

– Washing my hands with non-toxic soap. I am completely addicted to Vermont Soap Organics Lemongrass Zen foaming hand soap. This stuff is amazing and makes for a great gift.

– Taking a tablespoon of coconut oil after working out.

– Eating foods that will boost my immune system. Some of these are fermented foods, such as sauerkraut and kimchi (the beneficial bacteria keeps the gut healthy and fights the germs), citrus (Vitamin C), ginger (has sesquiterpenes, which fight viruses), honey (anti-microbial properties), and onions (contains immune boosting compounds).

I also recently found a very interesting drink that seemed to have the best of everything — Fire Cider.

Fire Cider is a remedy that has roots in folk medicine and has been around for many, many years.

The base is certified organic apple cider vinegar and raw unfiltered honey. (As I have written about before, there is no such thing as USDA certified organic honey.) Other certified organic ingredients include oranges, lemons, onions, horseradish root, ginger root, habanero pepper, garlic, and turmeric.

Plus, it is gluten-free and contains no alcohol.

I drink about an ounce once per day, depending on how I am feeling, and that is enough to make me wince. This stuff is spicy STRONG.

Can I say that Fire Cider alone has kept me virus-free this winter?

It is impossible to say that one specific thing has kept me healthy, but it is certainly part of the equation and it contains many of the most important immune boosting foods that our bodies could have.

As soon as I found this product several months ago, I became a big, big fan.

Fire Cider is sold at retail locations nationwide and is available for purchase online.
