Cool Microgreens at the Union Square Greenmarket in NYC

As you can tell from above, the Union Square Greenmarket in New York City is a pretty popular place.

On Saturday, I walked through the market and found a bunch of interesting microgreens, some of which I bought and juiced with. Here are a few things that caught my attention.

MICRO TATSOI

Recently, I profiled tatsoi but had never seen micro tatsoi before. The difference between the regular size tatsoi and the micro version is pretty astounding.

MICRO HONG VIT RADISHES

These are also known as Asian radish greens and have that bitter taste that we are accustomed to with radishes. I used this for my juice yesterday.

EDIBLE FLOWERS

I love putting these in salads as they add great color and decent crunch.

MICRO LAMB’S QUARTERS

Similar to dandelion, lamb’s quarters are weeds. Most people would wince at the thought of eating weeds, but they are very nutritious.

MICRO RED AMARANTH

While there are many great farmers markets in New York City, the one in Union Square is the biggest and has the widest selection of products. It is definitely worth checking out if you’re ever in town, and don’t let the crowds scare you. There are too many good things to see.

The Union Square Greenmarket is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Saturday is when you’ll find the most number of vendors there.
