I was in my local organic market the other day and I stumbled across this tiny blue box of organic licorice. Yes, organic licorice.

When I think of licorice, I am reminded of the packs of red Twizzlers that I used to devour as a kid. Not exactly a pleasant thought, to be honest.

This organic licorice by Zot is apparently made in Italy using only “the finest organically grown licorice plant root.” The other ingredient in the product is organic anise flavor.

While I have always been used to chewing licorice, the Zot organic licorice is slightly different. This licorice comes in tiny pellets and you just suck on them, like you would a breath mint.

My Take: Much to my surprise, I liked it a lot. It was refreshing, slightly bitter and quite enjoyable.

I could definitely see myself buying it again.

ENDANGERED SPECIES ECO-FRIENDLY TOYS

I don’t think there was one product, either organic food or non-organic food, that captivated me more than these eco-friendly kids toys.

The paper for the coloring kit is made from reclaimed limestone, and is bleach-free, waterproof, erasable and environmentally degradable.  And, the crayons use soy ink.

I just absolutely flipped over these Endangered Species products. Read more »

As I recently wrote about, one of my favorite organic food products is Italian Volcano Orange Juice by Dream Foods International. Once I buy a bottle, I literally cannot stop drinking it — the taste is that good.

Prior to Expo West, I made a special effort to set up an interview with the founder of Dream Foods, Adriana Kahane, so we could discuss this amazing product.

As you will see in the video, it is the soil, in which the oranges are grown, that makes Italian Volcano Orange Juice so unique.

NURTURME BABY FOOD

NurturMe is dehydrated organic baby food in powder form that you add to water, infant formula or even breast milk. It is convenient and lightweight, and the products are eco-friendly.

Very, very smart idea and I love the fact that the powder can be used for toddlers as well (put the powder into regular foods — the kids will get the nutritional benefits but won’t know it’s in there).

I was immediately impressed when I saw NurturMe. Read more »

In May of 2006 when I was still living in Miami, I was involved in a car accident — I got rear-ended at a red light and suffered whiplash. Luckily, the MRI showed that nothing was broken or fractured.

After about three months of doing Network Spinal Analysis with my chiropractor, the pain was gone. I had great range of motion and could move my neck to the left and right without any trouble.

Thinking I was fine and acting as if I were 18 years old again, I then proceeded to play two hours of very hard tennis in the blazing hot Miami summer. At the end of the match, I went to take a serve and knew right away that something was really wrong.

I felt an intense throbbing in my neck that I had never experienced before. Needless to say, the pain came back in a much, much stronger way. Read more »
