Tofu Disrupt in New York City was Truly an Amazing Night

If you follow the technology industry, you are probably familiar with TechCrunch Disrupt, an event that showcases the most revolutionary and disruptive start-ups.

Well, the organic food industry now has its own version of this event called Tofu Disrupt.

While Tofu Disrupt does not put the spotlight on emerging tofu brands, its goal is to disrupt our preconceived notions of what tofu is and to make this a much more mainstream ingredient.

Hosted and conceived by Minh Tsai, my good friend and founder of Hodo Soy Beanery, the country’s leading artisinal organic tofu brand, Tofu Disrupt was first held last year in San Francisco. Rodale’s Organic Life Farm2Fork Festival This Weekend in Brooklyn


If you’re in the New York City area this weekend, October 24-25, there is a very cool organic event taking place in Williamsburg.

Rodale’s Organic Life magazine is hosting its first Farm2Fork Festival, which will spotlight Brooklyn restaurants, and special guests include chef Dan Barber (Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barns) and filmmaker Susan Rockefeller (Food for Thought: Food for Life).

Recap of Green Festival NYC This Past Weekend

This past weekend I attended the Green Festival NYC held at the Jacob Javits Center. It was the first time that this event had been held, and I was impressed with what I saw.

Aside from the numerous speakers, I discovered many companies involved with recycling – recycled clothes, recycled bags, recycled wallets – water purifiers, organic soaps and beauty products, and a wide variety of other holistic products and services.

The North American Organic Brewers Festival in Portland, Oregon is Setting the Standard for Sustainable Living

For organic beer lovers, the North American Organic Brewers Festival (NAOBF) that takes place in Portland, Oregon from June 24-26 has to be as good as it gets. Where else can you sample dozens and dozens of organic beers, listen to great music and be surrounded by so many like-minded people?

After speaking with Craig Nicholls, the founder of the event, I realized that this is much more than exposing people to organic beer. This is about raising the bar for sustainable living, especially for large events.
