If you follow me on Facebook, you know that last week I took a short trip to Miami — I put up a bunch of pictures of the juice that I drank and the food that I ate down there.

What you didn’t see was food from a visit to Choices Cafe, an organic vegan restaurant in downtown Miami, right off of Brickell.

Given that several of my friends in the industry had told me about Choices Cafe and the restaurant has been listed in my Pressed Organic Juice Directory for quite some time, I was eager to go check it out. Read more »

Ever since I launched the Pressed Organic Juice Directory a few months ago, people have been constantly asking me what I drink for juice.

In terms of pressed organic juice, I prefer green juice in a glass bottle. However, sometimes glass is not available. And sometimes straight green juice is not available either. Usually, this means that a juice bar has added apple for sweetness.

Despite the fact that I have plenty of places to buy pressed organic juice in my neighborhood, I have not abandoned juicing at home.  And I never will. Read more »

You may have noticed that I haven’t been posting any pictures of juice lately.

The main reason for this is that I have been waiting for replacement parts for my Green Star juicer.

Well, they just came in and I immediately put the machine back to work.

The first combination that I made was kale, celery, broccoli sprouts, and lime.

In the past, I have written about juicing with broccoli sprouts and use them because of the tremendous amount of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes that sprouts provide.

So, I went with the broccoli sprouts and also added a touch of lime juice, something that I rarely use. Limes give green juice a kick of tartness and help to provide a very interesting flavor profile. Read more »

My Tulsi Tea Smoothie for Breakfast

My Tulsi Tea Smoothie for Breakfast

In many of the organic smoothies that I have written about in the past, I have either used hemp seed milk or Brazil nut milk. For some reason, however, these nuts and seeds haven’t been going down so well lately. Why? It probably has something to do with all of the green juice that I […]

In many of the organic smoothies that I have written about in the past, I have either used hemp seed milk or Brazil nut milk.

For some reason, however, these nuts and seeds haven’t been going down so well lately. Why?

It probably has something to do with all of the green juice that I have been drinking – my body (my blood) appears to have become very alkaline and is rejecting these foods.

So, this morning I made a smoothie with organic tea as the base in order to change things up.

If you’ve never had a smoothie with tea, I strongly suggest it. Not only do you avoid having to make nut milk, but you get the added benefits of consuming tea.

Here is how I made this smoothie. Read more »

As I have been writing about for the past year or so, I have been trying to juice with sprouts as much as possible. Why?

According to the Hippocrates Health Institute, the key benefits of sprouts include:

– Increased vitality, energy, and vigor from the large amount of enzymes.

– 10 to 100 times more enzymes than fruits and vegetables when eaten within the first seven days of being sprouted.

– Powerful antioxidants which help fight free radicals and aging.

– The minerals and nutrients are easily absorbed into the body.

Given my penchant for these superfoods, I was very happily surprised last week to find a pressed organic juice company in Boston, Revitalive, that uses sprouts. Read more »

My Organic Green Juice with Rainbow Chard and Arugula Sprouts

My Organic Green Juice with Rainbow Chard and Arugula Sprouts

While it may not look like the prettiest organic green juice you’ve ever seen, it was certainly a powerful one. This juice that I made the other day had rainbow chard, celery, arugula sprouts, and lemon. The taste was refreshing, largely because the lemon evened out any bitterness from the arugula sprouts. Some of you […]

Some of you might be curious as to why I am using sprouts in my juice.

Well, it is actually pretty simple – sprouts have incredibly important health properties.

They have very high levels of nutrients and enzymes, which provide the body valuable energy to detox and strengthen the immune system.

According to the Hippocrates Health Institute run by Dr. Brian Clement, the other key benefits of sprouts include: Read more »
