GMO Impossible Burger Tests Positive for Glyphosate

(The Impossible Burger from Impossible Foods)

As Beyond Meat’s very successful IPO is bringing a lot of attention to the alt-protein category, it is important to take a look at what exactly are in these food products.

One popular name in this space is the Impossible Burger, a product we first wrote about in 2017 when Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) documents uncovered that the FDA disagreed with the company’s safety assessments of the burger’s main ingredient — soy leghemoglobin. However, the company continued selling it to the public anyhow without informing consumers about the FDA’s very serious concerns.

The issue this time around with the Impossible Burger is the amount of glyphosate that it contains. Read more »

3 Reasons to Eat Organic Food for Your Health – Glyphosate, Atrazine, Chlorpyrifos

If you haven’t noticed by now, organic is under constant attack in the media for one simple reason — healthy, organic food has become a serious threat to the business model of Big Ag and their chemical-laden GMOs.

That is why you will see pieces such as the recent Wall Street Journal op-ed The Organic Industry is Lying to You  and The Boston Globe’s article on agriculture which tells you to “learn to love” GMOs.

While critics will often say that organic is a waste of money and that the nutritional differences between organic and conventional are negligible, here are three reasons why you should completely dismiss their words — glyphosate, atrazine and chlorpyrifos. Read more »

MONDAY DEADLINE – Tell the EPA ‘No’ to the Super-Toxic Weedkiller Glyphosate (Monsanto’s RoundUp)

How can a super-toxic weedkiller — which is known to the State of California to cause cancer — be allowed to be sprayed on our nation’s food supply?

It is an absolute outrage that our government is permitting this to happen, especially when the latest President’s Cancer Panel report said that 41% of Americans will get cancer and 21% of Americans will die from cancer.

Now is the time to tell our government ‘No’ to glyphosate, as it is considering to reapprove this toxic chemical for another 15 years.

We have until midnight on April 30th to let the EPA know that we want this chemical banned forever, and it is essential that everyone’s voice be heard. Read more »

Another Reason to Eat Organic — California Says That Glyphosate is Known to Cause Cancer

If you are ever asked why you eat organic food, particularly from a skeptic, there is a very easy answer — you don’t want to get cancer.

In July 2017, the State of California announced that:

Glyphosate is listed under Proposition 65 effective July 7, 2017 as known to the state to cause cancer.

That’s right. The State of California has said that glyphosate is known to cause cancer and is now requiring warning labels, effective July 2018.

So, that begs the question: why should consumers care about this?

Because glyphosate is the most widely used chemical in the world today — approximately 300 million pounds of it is used each year in the U.S. — and it is sprayed on much of our food supply. Read more »

TAKE ACTION: Tell the EPA Inspector General to Protect Us from Glyphosate in our Food

glyphosatepic

If you were under the impression that our government is here to protect us, now is the time that we demand that they do so.

A blockbuster new report by Food Democracy Now! and The Detox Project shows that our health is in serious jeopardy because of the most widely used chemical in the world: glyphosate.

Glyphosate, the primary ingredient in Monsanto’s RoundUp, was was called a “probable human carcinogen” by the World Health Organization. This means that it probably causes cancer in humans.

Even more alarming is that 250 million pounds of it are used in the U.S. each year — on farms, lawns, parks and schools, among many other places.

New scientific evidence shows that probable harm to human health could begin at ultra-low levels of glyphosate at 0.1 parts per billions (ppb). This is 1,750 times lower than what the EPA currently claims is safe. Read more »
