Top 5 Non-Food Organic Products of Expo East 2011

For the most part, I only cover organic food products here on livingmaxwell, yet I fully understand that living well incorporates a lot more than just food.

While organic food is the primary motivation for me attending the Natural Products Expo East and Natural Products Expo West Trade Shows, I also come across many non-food products that organic consumers ought to know about.

These five really captured my attention at last week’s Expo East in Baltimore.

VERMONT SOAP ORGANICS – CERTIFIED ORGANIC TOOTHBRUSH SANITIZER

Leave it up to Larry Plesent, founder of Vermont Soap Organics, to come up with another amazing product.

His fruit and vegetable wash is the ONLY vegetable wash that I use and recommend, and now he has something else that I will be using – a toothbrush sanitizer.

Given that the University of Michigan School of Dentistry found over one trillion germs living on the average toothbrush, Vermont Soap Organics decided to do something about this problem and developed its own Certified Organic Toothbrush Sanitizer.

This patent-pending and powerful organic formula kills dangerous bacteria that thrives on toothbrushes, dentures and bridgework and offers a safe and effective solution for people, pets and the environment.

Vermont Soap Organics products are already flooding my kitchen and bathroom, and now I will add another one to the list.

The Certified Organic Toothbrush Sanitizer can be purchased online.

MOSO NATURAL AIR PURIFYING BAG

The importance of clean air to our health cannot be underestimated. According to the EPA, the quality of our air is two to five times worse indoors than it is outdoors.

So, if you eat organic food, you also need to be doing something to purify your air.

Moso has developed a natural air purifying bag made from bamboo charcoal. It helps remove germs, bacteria, fungus, odors, allergens and other impurities from the air.

Furthermore, it is non-toxic, lasts up to two years, and is 100% recyclable and fragrance-free.

After one month of use, you just let it sit in the sun for a few hours to expel the harmful pollutants. That’s it.

I had been hearing about this product for a few months and people seem to rave about it. It can be purchased online.

PLANET BOTANICALS

Planet Botanicals is putting out some fantastic body care products. Not only is the company using African superfoods, such as baobab, moringa and kalahari, but all of its products are so incredibly fresh and appealing.

Furthermore, everything is sustainably sourced from organic farmers and women’s cooperatives in Africa.

All of Planet Botanicals products can be purchased online.

PURE GLASS WATER BOTTLES

As you may already know, I am a water fanatic and definitely understand the tremendous importance of glass water bottles.

But by no means are Pure Water Bottles your standard glass water bottles.

On the inside is a glass water bottle, and on the outside is a coating of BPA-free plastic, which protects the glass from breaking or shattering.

At Pure’s trade show booth, I dropped the bottle on the cement floor from four feet in the air. Did break? No.

Also, the founder of the company started banging the bottle with a small steel wrench. Did it break? No.

Glass water bottles are the future, and Pure has come out with something very well engineered.

Pure glass water bottles can be purchased online.

EARTH PRESENTS

If there is any product that should be using recyclable materials more than wrapping paper, I’d like to know what it is.

Earth Presents is exactly that – 100% recycled and recyclable wrapping paper.

Additionally, the designs are inspired by the artwork of students with special needs at WVSA, a unique non-profit organization, and proceeds from the sale of the products benefit WVSA’s School for Arts in Learning.

I really like what Earth Presents is doing and its products can be purchased online.
