I’m a Big Fan of Lunaberry Swirl, One of the Newest Flavors by Luna and Larry’s Organic Coconut Bliss

Luna and Larry’s Organic Coconut Bliss is one of the most beloved brands in the organic world. Consumers absolutely rave about their ice cream.

And for good reason.

Aside from the fact that people love ice cream in general, Luna and Larry’s delivers amazing tasting products, all of which use coconut milk as the base.

Needless to say, I have been eagerly anticipating Luna and Larry’s newest flavors but distribution problems caused delays in getting the products to the East Coast.

Finally, they arrived and I have been devouring Lunaberry Swirl ever since.

Lunaberry Swirl, aptly named for the one of the founders of the company, Luna Marcus (the interview with Luna starts at the 2:50 minute mark), is incredibly refreshing and avoids the pitfalls of many ice creams by being too sweet.

It has just the right amount of berries and makes you keep wanting more.

If you’ve never had Luna and Larry’s Organic Coconut Bliss, definitely give it a try.

And if you’re already a fan, you will not be disappointed with Lunaberry Swirl. It is a winner.

Ingredients include: Organic Coconut Milk (Organic Coconut, Water, Guar Gum), Organic Agave Syrup, Organic Fair Trade Vanilla Extract, Organic Berry Swirl (Organic Agave Syrup, Organic Wild Blueberries, Organic Strawberries, Organic Blackberries, Organic Blackberry Juice Concentrate, Organic Strawberry Juice Concentrate, Organic Blueberry Juice Concentrate, Organic Guar Gum, Organic Coconut Sugar, Pectin, Filtered Water)

Lunaberry Swirl is available at retail locations nationwide and is gluten-free, dairy-free, fair trade, certified organic and kosher.

  4. Hi Laurel,

Did you check the store locator on their site? I put a link to it at the end of the post. If there is nothing close by to where you live, try contacting the company and see what they can do for you. Maybe they have some ideas.

    Good luck!

I agree it’s delicious. We have it at my store location in SF
and our local co-op as well. I selected it as one of my “New Picks”
at my store location before I read your post.

  8. Hi Stephanie,

Great to hear!! What are “New Picks” at Whole Foods? Is that a program where employees suggest new products?

  9. Hi Max!

The New Picks or TM picks is a voluntary and local program that me & a co-worker initiated spontaneously in 2000 for calling out products we love and feel excited to bring to the attention to our co-workers and consumers. As far as I can tell,
I have not seen it picked up at any other stores in other states. It includes a photo of the TM and a few talking ponts why it is our pick. I started it when I opened our first SF store and now at my new store in 2007 in Potrero Hill.
I have encouraged TMs on many teams to participate and have fun with it.
It helps push sales but the bottom line for me is that it cultivates a more meaningful, trusting and engaging conversation with our customers which is why I do it.–just as you call out what you love and respect on LivingMaxwell.

BTW I just tried this bar and I thought you might want to check this company and their vision. We just started selling 4 Skus thus far.The cashew butter bar was moist, fresh, had wonderful mouth feel and is certified organic and they are working on being Fair Trade certified as as well. A mother and daughther started the company-wonderful story re the evolution of their company.

If you can’t track them down, I would be happy to mail you their bars the next time I receive samples. Review their website and let me know if there are any flavors that you would be curious to try. No pressure (:

  10. Hi Stephanie,

Wow, that is a great program. I am surprised more people haven’t picked it up but they may not have your passion or enthusiasm.

Thanks for telling me about the Macro bar. I definitely know it but haven’t seen it in quite a while. I’ll check it out again and you may be seeing it soon on livingmaxwell!!!!

  11. Hello Max,

I understand from my co-worker that the aforementioned product is
not available from Coconut Bliss as of this posting-he had to pull their tag from our freezer shelf. He does not know when it will be available again and distributor
was not able to clarify why. Do you know anyone
at Luna & Larry I can reach out to find out what happened?

Thank you and all the best,

  12. Hi Stephanie,

That is very strange, I wonder why. I will email someone at the company and see if they’ll respond here.

    Stay tuned and thanks!!

  13. Hey Stephanie & Max,
Two factors have recently converged into a perfect storm that has left us in the unhappy situation of not having as much coconut milk as we need to keep the Bliss flowing and the freezer shelves fully stocked.

Last year Thailand suffered its most severe drought in 20 years, seriously impacting the harvest of important food crops throughout the country, including the crop of organic coconuts at the family-owned farm that has been providing our coconut milk since we first started making Coconut Bliss in 2005.

In addition, you may have noticed that there has been a veritable explosion of new coconut milk products that have come to market in the last year, resulting in tremendous competition for remaining supplies. We are still a relatively small company and do not have the resources to compete with some of the much larger players.

What this means is that for the month of August we have had to limit production to our top four flavors; Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge, Dark Chocolate, Naked Coconut and Vanilla Island. However that doesn’t mean that is all you will find on store shelves for August as many stores and distributors have back stock that will vary by location. We are hopeful our supply of coconut milk will pick back up in September and that we will be able to start adding flavors, two at a time, back into our production schedule.

I sincerely apologize for any disappointment this may cause you, and hope that you will stand by us through this time. We are doing everything we can to guarantee Coconut Bliss will be back in abundance very soon.
    Blissful Regards,

  14. ps-I am not sure why UNFI was not able to shed any light on the situation as we have been working very closely with them. All of the new flavors should be on a temporary discontinuation, and I hope that we have not permanently lost our place in your freezers!

  15. Hi Kiley,

Thanks so much for your detailed response and I hope this situation gets worked out as well.

  16. Greetings Kiley,

Thank you for the clarification and update.
No, you have not lost a place in our freezer nor in our hearts.
I recently selected the Mocha Maca Crunch as my new
favorite flavor and called it out in my store and Lunaberry as well. I bought a case of each flavor
and gave them as gifts to friends and colleagues who had not yet tasted
any of your products. Your product stands alone not only in how it tastes but in your culture and the values Luna and Larry support and embrace.

Thank you Max for your kind assistance and prompt reply.

    All the best,

  17. Hi Stephanie,

I am glad that we got your comment/concern addressed. I believe that I am going to be doing a blog post on this issue so Luna and Larry fans know what is going on with the product delays.

Thanks for your inquiry!! Much appreciated.
