At the recent 2011 Expo West trade show, I got a chance to speak with Minh Tsai, the founder of Hodo Soy Beanery. Hodo Soy Beanery is based in Oakland, CA and makes artisinal organic tofu.

The other great product that Hodo Soy Beanery makes are organic yuba strips. If you’ve never heard of yuba strips, definitely give them a try. They are phenomenal!!

In this video, Minh and I talk about his products, what it means to be an artisinal tofu maker and when Hodo Soy Beanery will be expanding its distribution to the East Coast.

  1. Hi Max,

I don’t eat tofu but I do now on occasion and the only brand I eat
is from Hodo Soy Beanery. I took a tour of their facility which was
fantastic and tried their fresh, unsweetened and organic soy milk
    and yuba strips.

    Cheers,
    stephanie

  3. Hello Max,

I toured the factory about 3 months ago and it lasted 90 minutes.
It was a fantastic experience. Before I participated in the tour I reread
the book, the History of Tofu by the following authors, and it gave me a greater appreciation and understanding regarding the cultural, culinary and historical cultivation and broad application and use of soybeans.

    I loved the yuba strips
