For those people who are immersed in the raw food world, they either know of or have been to the restaurant Euphoria Loves Rawvolution in Santa Monica, CA.

This very popular raw food restaurant has great, great energy and is widely known for The Box, a prepared meal package that can be delivered throughout the country.

Due to his many customers who also reside in New York City, owner Matt Amsden opened up an outpost in the East Village last year. I stopped into Rawvolution for an organic lunch yesterday and here’s what I had.

A few days ago, I went for dinner at Candle Cafe, an organic vegan restaurant in NYC.

For those who don’t know, Candle Cafe, along with its sister restaurant Candle 79, pretty much dominates the organic food scene on the Upper East Side.

While downtown Manhattan has many different organic restaurants, the Upper East Side has very few. Here’s what I had. Read More »

10 Organic Foods You’ll Always Find in My Kitchen

Written by Max Goldberg on February 9, 2012. Follow Max on Twitter: @livingmaxwell.

For someone who loves organic food so much and cooks so often, my refrigerator is surprisingly empty. How could this be?

Well, I go food shopping A LOT and pretty much only buy whatever I need for the next meal that I’ll be eating. I have the good fortune of being able to do this because an amazing organic market is literally less a one minute walk from my apartment

Written by Max Goldberg on February 7, 2012. Follow Max on Twitter: @livingmaxwell.

I was at a Super Bowl party on Sunday and ran into a friend that I hadn’t seen in quite a while.

We started talking and he mentioned someone’s name to me, a former Wall Street professional who is now an organic foods chef.

The first thing that he said about this individual is “He’s very political.”

Without hesitation, I responded “So am I. When you see what is going on, how can you not be?”

Given my background, it is hard to believe that these words now come out of my mouth.

Even though my college was a hotbed for political activism, I avoided that scene altogether and never had any strong opinions, about politics or otherwise. Read More »

Organic Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Written by Max Goldberg on February 1, 2012. Follow Max on Twitter: @livingmaxwell.

Whenever holidays come around, it doesn’t mean that I take a holiday from eating organic.

Since the majority of the world is not yet on the organic bandwagon (including most of my friends and family), it requires that we plan in advance and get resourceful. But it also presents a great opportunity to expose people to some excellent organic products.

Here are a few ideas for an organic Valentine’s Day.

- Equal Exchange is selling a fantastic box called My Fair Valentine Cards & Candy.

Each set includes 24 Valentine’s Day cards and 24 fairly traded, organic dark chocolate minis. The colorful cards are illustrated with animals, and the informative bookmark explains where fairly traded chocolate comes from. Read More »
