Recap of My Two Talks in Herkimer, NY: Beating Depression Naturally and Organic Food

Last week, I was in upstate New York where I gave two presentations at Herkimer County Community College.

The first talk was on Beating Depression Naturally. Aside from sharing my own personal story of what happened during and after my 11 years of antidepressants, I provided the students eight different ways to fight depression naturally, a few of which were avoiding refined sugar, yoga, meditation, and eating more organic and raw food.

Naked Juice Faces Class Action Lawsuit for Using GMOs and Synthetic Substances in its “Non-GMO” and “All-Natural” Products

The lawsuits against industrial food companies just keep piling up.

First, it was Wesson Oils who got sued for using GMOs in its products that the company claimed were “100% Natural”.

Then, Kashi got sued for using prescription drugs, irradiated substances, pesticides that are a by-product of uranium mining, and federally declared hazardous substances in products that it claimed were “All-Natural” and contained “Nothing Artificial”.

Now, here comes a class action lawsuit against Naked Juice (owned by PepsiCo) for using genetically-modified ingredients and synthetic substances in products that were marketed as “Non-GMO” and “All-Natural”.

Highlights of the Naked Juice lawsuit accuse the company of:

1) Labeling its products as “Non-GMO” when, in fact, it knowingly used genetically-modified ingredients in its products. Read More »

Inn at the Black Olive in Baltimore is the Most Organic Hotel I’ve Ever Visited

When I attended Natural Products Expo East, I stayed at the Inn at the Black Olive, a 12-suite boutique hotel in Baltimore.

I had heard about the Inn at the Black Olive several months ago from David Wolfe when he was in town giving a seminar at Organic Avenue.

David Wolfe couldn’t stop raving about it and told everyone how the owner of the hotel made fresh juice for him and Woody Harrelson at 3:30AM.

Given that Expo East was in Baltimore this year, instead of Boston, I knew that this was absolutely the place I had to stay. Read More »
